Producer's description
Kaiserdom is located in the Bavarian city of Bamberg. This city is famous for its ancient tradition of brewing. The first documentary references to the Bamberg brewers date from 1039, and the first license for the brewing of a foam drink was given by Bishop Otto I in 1122. It was given to the monks of the Benedictine Order in Michelsberg. The authorities of those times very strictly monitored the quality of beer. In 1489, Bishop Heinrich III announced the Bamberg law on cleanliness, according to which beer can only contain hops, malt and water. This legislative act for 27 years ahead of the famous Bavarian Reinheitsgebot (Law on the purity of brewing).
In 1718, the Benedictine monks owned several houses in the village of Gaustad. The tenant of one of these houses, Georg Morg, received from the priests a license to set up a brewery. In the subsequent incomplete 200 years, this brewery provided the needs of Gaustad and the surrounding area in a foam drink. In 1900 it already bore the name Muller'sche Brauerei zu Gaustadt. Its owner Anton Muller was the father of four daughters. One of them, Monica Müller, in 1910 married Georg Wörner, one of the nine children of Michael Wörner, owner of the Erbacher Brauhaus brewery. Since then, Muller'sche Brauerei zu Gaustadt has changed its name to Brauerei Worner, and some time later - to Burgerbrau Gaustadt.
In 1953, Georg Wörner handed over the brewery to his sons - Theodore and Ludwig. Their small factory produced 6,000 hectoliters of beer a year. In subsequent years, the brothers managed to achieve a stable growth in production, including through the introduction of a range of non-alcoholic beers. Sales volumes were growing rapidly, and in the old building of the plant there was no longer room for expanding the brewhouse. Then Theodore and Ludwig decided to build a completely new brewery. They carried out their plan in 1969. The new plant occupied an area of 55 thousand square meters. m and produced 300 thousand hectoliters of beer per year.
In 1972, Gaustad became part of the city of Bramberg. This event coincided with the re-branding of the brewery Burgerbrau Gaustadt, which from now on became known as Kaiserdom . Beer under the new brand was first proposed to the public during church holidays and was a huge success. After the sudden death of Ludwig Wörner in 1978, his son George entered the reign of the Kaiserd brewery. Georg was already a doctor at that time and planned to continue his research activities, but for the sake of the family business he refused to pursue a career in science. He decided to expand the geography of beer sales from Kaiserdom. In 1986, the brewery was completely transferred to the management of George's family (currently the third generation of the family is present on the board). Now Kaiserdom exports products worldwide and owns factories in China and Sweden.
